MAK K 1000 Rally 2009
FINAL ROUND OF THE MAK FMSCI INDIAN NATIONAL RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP 2009- BANGALORE – DEC 19 & 20
K.P.Aravind of Team TVS Racing did a phenomenal run to complete the MAK K1000 Rally on top and win the National title overall in the 4 stroke category. Taking full 20 points up for grabs in the K 1000 Rally for the overall winner, he notched a total of 76 points to win the overall title for TVS Racing, with teammate Pramod Joshua finishing second and second in the Championship with 70 points. Team TVS Racing closed all the top three placings in the rally, with Natraj R finishing the rally at 3rd and winning the third spot in the National Championship with 60 points. MS Ravindra and Abdul Wahid Tanveer finished fourth and fifth respectively.
"I am extremely happy that I have won the National title and our team has finished the rally and Overall Championship 1-2-3" , said Aravind.
In the overall two stroke classification, it was Harish S, who had sealed the championship already with 50 points in his kitty. In the two stroke category on Sunday, Shivakumar topped the time charts with a total of 1:03.25, while former National motocross champion and BC Roopesh (1:08.58) came in second. S Nanda Gopal, who was second in the championship with 27 points before the fourth and final round, finished third with a time of 1:10.10.
The MAK K1000 Rally that started at 10 am on Sunday, 20th Dec 2009, at Kotahalli, about 14 kilometers from Sidhalghatta, about 140 kms from downtown Bangalore, finished at about 4 pm, with 32 of the 41 entrants finishing the rally. A rally run to perfection, the K 1000 proved highly competitive and thrilling for the competitors. The K 1000 was the 4th and final round of the MAK FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship. The earlier three rounds were run in Coimbatore.Chikmagalur, and Mysore.
The MAK FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship 2009 that ended today, has found a rejuvenation in the entry of MAK Lubricants from Bharath Petroleum as the Title sponsor. The 2010 edition should be a much bigger and better affair, with more new teams waiting to enter.
